Dr Trish McCluskey
Trish has more than 30 years’ experience in the sector, holding a variety of positions within both government and non- government child and family services settings. She worked in Child Protection for two decades as a practitioner, manager and in strategic policy and projects.
Trish joined Berry Street in 2006 as the Southern Eastern, Gippsland and Hume Area Manager for Take Two. In 2009, she was appointed Regional Director in Gippsland, a role she held very capably for eight years. Trish moved into the role of Director Strategic Initiatives at Berry Street in 2017.
After making a great contribution at Berry Street, Trish has returned to working with DHHS as a Principal Practitioner. We were delighted when she agreed to remain as an Associate at the Berry Street Childhood Institute. Whilst at Berry Street she demonstrated her enormous skill as a trainer and we are pleased that she will continue to have an association with us as a trainer and consultant.
Trish has a strong background in therapeutic and mental health interventions. She has worked in a number of Aboriginal communities including those of the Pitjanjatjara Lands, Gerard Reserve and Raucon in South Australia. Trish has been a foster and respite carer herself and has an appreciation of the expectations and challenges of Kinship Care.
Trish was the Chairperson of the Victorian Therapeutic Treatment Board and a member of the Board since its inception in 2007.
Trish has a strong commitment to service delivery enhancement and she has been involved in a number of state-wide working groups. She has an interest and experience in work with particularly challenging adolescents. Trish’s passion is promoting an understanding of the importance of sibling relationships and how being in out-of-home care may impact on this.
